EVERETT — A bomb squad was called to examine an object that looked like a grenade after a Washington State Patrol trooper pulled over an aggressive driver Tuesday morning in Everett.
The device turned out to be a 1971 military-style flare. It looked like a grenade, Trooper Keith Leary said.
“We never know what we are going to see on a simple traffic stop,” Leary said. “We don’t take these things lightly.”
The driver was heading north on I-5 when he was pulled over. The car was stopped around 9:45 a.m. on the 3700 block of Broadway.
Troopers called in experts to examine the object inside the car.
“He gave several stories of what he used it for,” Leary said.
The Everett man, 38, was arrested for driving with a revoked license.
