Border Patrol catches smuggling boat near Joyce

PORT ANGELES — The Border Patrol says an anonymous tip helped agents catch a human smuggling boat on a beach west of Joyce on the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Agent Chris Dyer in Port Angeles told The Peninsula Daily News they arrested two Canadian citizens who entered the country on the 19-foot boat last Friday and a third Canadian driving a getaway vehicle.

They are being held at the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma, awaiting deportation.
