BOTHELL — Within the next few weeks, the Bothell Police Department will celebrate both the retirement of its chief and the swearing in of his successor.
The public is invited to attend both events, Bothell city spokeswoman Joy Johnston said.
A retirement ceremony for Chief Forrest Conover is planned for 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Eastside Foursquare Church at 14520 100th Ave. NE. Conover has been in law enforcement for nearly three decades, Johnston said.
He is the only Bothell police officer to have held every rank in the department. His last day is Jan. 31.
A swearing-in ceremony for incoming chief Carol Cummings is planned for 5 to 6 p.m. Feb. 1 at Bothell’s municipal court at 10116 NE 183rd St.
Cummings was scheduled to start at the department today. She has spent the past 27 years with the King County Sheriff’s Office. Her most recent rank there was special operations division chief.
