MARYSVILLE — A Marysville teen was stabbed in the chest in a fight with a 27-year-old man Thursday.
The boy, 14, and adult lived in the same apartment. The man later told police the teen attacked him first — striking him in the head with brass knuckles, and flashing what looked like a Swiss Army knife — around 3 p.m. in the 1200 block of Cedar Avenue.
The man told officers he feared he would be stabbed, so he pulled out a utility knife of his own and stabbed the boy in the upper chest, causing a punctured lung, according to police reports filed in court.
The teen denied holding a weapon. An ambulance took him to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, Marysville police Cmdr. Mark Thomas said. The boy was expected to survive.
The man suffered two wounds to the top of his head, police said. Officers interviewed him and found enough evidence to arrest him, Thomas said. Police booked him into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of first-degree domestic violence assault. Police are investigating his claim that the boy attacked him first.
