Boy, 2, drowns in lake near Yelm

YELM — A 2-year-old boy has drowned in Clear Lake southeast of Yelm.

Thurston County Sheriff’s Sgt. Alvin Griffin said the boy was playing Saturday morning with his older brother and cousin when he wandered off.

He said the child’s parents went looking for him. His mother found him in the lake and pulled him to the shore. Griffin said the parents are devastated.

Medics and others attempted to revive the child but weren’t successful.
