SKYKOMISH — A 10-year-old Marysville boy was seriously injured in a collision on U.S. 2 near Stevens Pass on Saturday.
The boy was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center after the accident, Washington State Patrol trooper Kirk Rudeen said. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, he said. The boy’s condition was not available Saturday night.
The boy and his mother, traveling westbound in a Ford sport-utility vehicle, were hit head-on about 8 a.m. by an eastbound GMC pickup that apparently slipped on ice and crossed the centerline, according to the State Patrol.
The pickup was driven by a 26-year-old Seattle man, accompanied by a 27-year-old Bellingham man, Rudeen said. Both men suffered minor injuries, as did the boy’s mother, 40, Rudeen said.
The accident took place about seven miles west of Stevens Pass, Rudeen said. U.S. 2 was closed for nearly two hours while the accident was cleared.
