BURLINGTON — State officials have shut down a portion of BP’s Olympic Pipeline after investigating a leak of 60 gallons of mixed diesel, jet fuel and gasoline south of the Burlington Country Club.
Ecology Department and company officials told The Skagit Valley Herald that a valve needs to be repaired before the line can be restarted. Cleanup is also in progress of the spilled fuel.
The leak was first discovered at the end of October and the pipeline was shut down at that time. It has taken more than a week to discover its source.
The pipeline transports fuels from Tesoro and Shell refineries in Anacortes to Olympic’s main pipeline, which runs south to Portland, Oregon.
