TACOMA — A man who wanted to go to jail got his wish Tuesday after breaking windows in Tacoma.
Joseph Rosario is charged with felony malicious mischief and pleaded not guilty Wednesday. He’s held in the Pierce County Jail with bail set at $25,000.
The News Tribune reported that the 29-year-old said he was turned away from the jail earlier Tuesday when he tried to surrender on misdemeanor warrants. The jail typically doesn’t have room for nonviolent misdemeanor offenders.
Charging papers say he asked a game arcade employee for the cheapest thing he could break. He was asked to leave. Moments later the door glass was broken. He was arrested by a University of Washington Tacoma security guard after he admitted throwing rocks through a library window. Damages total nearly $2,500.
