Bremerton firefighters bucket water from stream

BREMERTON — Bremerton firefighters used buckets to dip water out of a stream to douse flames that had spread from an illegal campfire in the city’s watershed.

Lt. Dana Normandy told The Kitsap Sun firefighters had to walk through woods Monday evening with buckets because a neighbor would not give the fire department access from his property.

Firefighters finished in the dark, using flashlights to extinguish the fire that had spread into tree roots.
