Police on Thursday arrested a 34-year-old Bellingham man who is accused of shooting a friend in Brier earlier this week.
David McKee was apprehended in Bellingham without incident and transferred to the Snohomish County Jail around 5 p.m., Brier Police Chief Don Lane said.
McKee faces a charge of first-degree assault, Lane said.
A 32-year-old friend of McKee was shot in the stomach Tuesday night at the victim’s house on Vine Road. Lane said the motivation for the shooting was unclear.
The victim underwent surgery at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and is expected to fully recover, police said.
A Brier detective identified McKee as a suspect and informed the Bellingham Police Department, which made the arrest.
The shooting investigation also led police to the discovery of a marijuana-growing operation at the victim’s home. Police arrested a 45-year-old man who said he was the victim’s roommate on suspicion of manufacturing, delivering or possessing a controlled substance.
Lane wouldn’t provide a dollar value for the pot-growing operation.
