LA GRANDE, Ore. — A nine-acre property worth more than $1.5 million on the west moraine of Wallowa Lake will be preserved through efforts of the Wallowa Land Trust.
The La Grande Observer reports that brothers Frank, Steve and Fred Kimball donated their land to the trust to keep it in its natural state.
Trust Executive Director Kathleen Ackley announced Thursday that the wooded property will be added to the trusts conservation. The trust already owns 39 acres on the west moraine and holds a conservation easement on 40 acres on the east moraine.
The Land Trust was founded in 2004 as a response to possible development on the Wallowa Lake moraines.
