Gov. Chris Gregoire is inviting you to try and let her know what you figure out..
She added a new tool on her state Website today that lets you calculate the financial impact of individual spending cuts.
This is much more than a little high speed abacus. It is an entry way into a maze of information on state government’s current operation.
In the end, it is data on top of data and provides what Rep. Mark Ericks might call “the full force of information.” “Closing our state’s multi-billion dollar budget gap required making many tough decisions,” Gregoire said in a news release.. “This exercise gives people an important understanding of the difficult choices our state government must make when dollars are scarce.”
“With this budget calculator, you may find different priorities among various programs. Your feedback is important. If you don’t like a budget decision, I want to know how you will fix it. What would you sacrifice instead?”
