SNOHOMISH — The recommended budget from the city manager that the City Council will consider tonight includes proposed increases in water, sanitary sewer, solid waste and recycling rates.
The total budget is about $31 million, with almost $7 million in the general fund.
Planned council changes from Larry Bauman’s budget include: elimination of a school resource officer position not funded by the school district; elimination of one city clerk position; and the addition of one assistant planner in the new Planning and Development Services Department.
The base rate for water would go up 40 cents a month and sewer would go up 60 cents a month. Increases wouldn’t take effect until Feb. 1, 2004.
The council also will consider reining in student parking in neighborhoods around the high school.
Meanwhile, James McAllister is expected to be appointed to the parks board, and newly elected councilwoman Lya Badgley is expected to be sworn in as a council member.
There will be a public hearing on the comprehensive plan and a presentation on the Classic Car and Hot Rod Display by Police Chief Rob Sofie.
The meeting starts at 7 tonight at the George Gilbertson Boardroom, 1601 Ave. D.
