Here is how some of your tax money was spent in recent city council action.

Everett: $71,660 to Barney &Worth of Portland, Ore., for additional parking studies for downtown Everett. The company already was paid $100,000 for a parking study earlier this year.

$660,000 to Murray, Smith &Associates Inc. of Everett for improvements to the city’s water system.

$106,948 to pay for a detective to verify addresses and residency of registered sex and kidnapping offenders. The funds will be reimbursed by state grants.

Marysville: Up to $2,779 from the state as reimbursement for translation services at the Municipal Court from July 1, 2008, through Aug. 31, 2009.
