EDMONDS — A delivery van struck a fire hydrant in downtown Edmonds on Saturday morning, sending water spewing into the street. The crash happened just before 6 a.m. at the intersection of Fifth Avenue S. and Alder Street, Edmonds police Sgt. Mike Blackburn said.
The van apparently struck a power pole and the hydrant, breaking the underground water line. Thousands of gallons of water poured out until firefighters were able to access the shut-off valve, Blackburn said.
The water flooded at least three businesses in the 300 and 400 blocks of Fifth.
No injuries were reported.
