HeraldNet now makes it easy for you to share stories with friends and colleagues through social networking sites, including Facebook, Digg, Reddit, del.icio.us, Fark and StumbleUpon. Just click on the icons to the right of the traditional e-mail and print icons at the top of any story.
Even if you haven’t ever used one of these sites, you’ve probably heard of some of them. Facebook – formerly a network for college students that’s now open to anyone – recently made the news when Microsoft paid $240 million for a small stake in the 4-year-old venture.
Basically, these sites all connect people based on common interests. I initially signed up for Facebook to keep up with friends from college and reconnect with old friends from high school, but recently many of my professional contacts have been signing up. I’ve mentioned Fark on this blog before because several weird crime stories from Snohomish County have been highlighted there. Each site has its own niche.
Did we miss your favorite site? Can you think of something else along these lines we should be doing? E-mail me your suggestions or comments.
