BOTHELL – A casino worker was charged with first-degree theft Friday by Snohomish County prosecutors, who say she was caught on videotape pilfering cash.
Sarah Kay Farmer, 27, of Everett allegedly took $2,500 from BC McDonald’s Casino while working as a cashier in April, deputy prosecutor Mara Rozzano said in Snohomish County Superior Court papers.
Farmer came under suspicion after a manager at the casino reviewed a surveillance tape and saw Farmer handling cash under circumstances he found suspicious. At one point, Farmer climbed partially into a cabinet near a cash drawer and stuffed something up her sleeve, Rozzano said.
When confronted by agents from the state Gambling Commission, Farmer admitted taking the cash, according to court papers. She reportedly claimed that another employee was an accomplice and had stashed money in the cabinet for her to pick up. That person denied involvement, Rozzano said.
