EVERETT — A pet cat died and nine people were displaced by a fire early Sunday morning at a duplex in Everett.
The fire was reported around 1:15 a.m. in the 11500 block of Meridian Avenue S., with firefighters from Everett Fire Department and South County Fire battling the blaze.
Firefighters kept it from spreading to the adjoining unit, according to the Everett Fire Department.
All residents escaped safely, but a cat died and another cat was missing.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but firefighters believe it started outside the home and spread up and into the attic.
