MOUNT VERNON — Murder and attempted murder charges are expected to be filed in Mount Vernon against the man accused of killing six and wounding four in a crime spree in Skagit County.
Prosecutors are preparing to file charges Friday.
The suspect is a 28-year-old Alger man, Isaac Zamora, who has a long criminal record and history of mental illness. He was arrested Tuesday at the end of a rampage that apparently began with Deputy Anne Jackson responding to a trespassing call in Alger where she was killed. Others were killed or wounded at houses in Alger and along I-5.
Residents will remember the dead at a candlelight vigil at 8 p.m. Friday at Alger Community Church.
