CLEARVIEW — Four people were injured and one person may face criminal charges after a traffic crash Wednesday on Highway 9 near 172nd Street SE, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The most seriously injured in the crash was Karen Sisler, 45, of Bothell, who was in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she was undergoing surgery Wednesday night, a nursing supervisor said.
A man believed to be 21 years old from Snohomish was listed in satisfactory condition. The State Patrol withheld his name because he is under investigation in the crash, Ramsay said.
Two other people, Robert Miller, 61, of Snohomish, and Justin Dinwiddie, believed to be 18, of Snohomish, were transported to Evergreen Healthcare. Their conditions were unavailable.
A Honda driven by Miller was northbound on Highway 9 approaching 172nd Street SE, where it began to make a left turn into a church parking lot about 3:30 p.m., Trooper Lance Ramsay said. Sisler was a passenger in Miller’s car.
A Chevrolet Nova driven by the 21-year-old was southbound on Highway 9 at an extremely high rate of speed, Ramsay said. The two vehicles collided in the outside southbound lane, he said.
Troopers shut down the highway, except one lane of vehicles that moved past the scene on the northbound shoulder, he said. The northbound lane reopened at 4:36 p.m. and the southbound lanes at 6:24 p.m., a dispatcher said.
The crash destroyed both vehicles.
