EVERETT – A group reviewing changes to the Snohomish County charter has given initial approval to three topics that could go to voters this November.
In votes on Wednesday, the Snohomish County Charter Review Commission voted:
* 14-0 to reform the county salary commission;
* 9-5 to allow two-year county budgets; and
* 8-6 to allow the county executive the power to veto sections of ordinances.
The commission plans to meet again at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the county administration building, 3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.
Topics planned for discussion and possible votes include the size of the County Council, creation of a possible independent county ombudsman, and giving campus and courthouse security to the county sheriff.
Voters have final say on issues raised by the commission.
