Church offers free help for single moms

Clearview Foursquare Church is offering its free Single Moms Car Care event from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 12 at 17210 Highway 9, south of Snohomish.

The event, a semi-annual community service project by the church, also includes activities for kids, spa treatments and haircuts for mothers, a breakfast or lunch buffet and a free family photo.

Car work includes changing oil and filter, tire and fluids check and car wash and vacuum.

Scholarships to aid business students

Zonta Club of Everett is accepting applications for the 2007 Zonta International Jane M. Klausman Women in Business scholarship.

The scholarship is open to women pursuing an undergraduate degree in business. The program is designed to encourage women to enter careers and to seek leadership positions in business-related fields.

Get your hands dirty, plant flowers in Everett

The city of Everett is looking for volunteers who don’t mind getting their hands dirty at the annual “Flowerize Downtown” event at 8 a.m. May 11.

Volunteers will fill planters and containers with flowers that will provide colorful blooms throughout spring and summer.

Those who wish to help can check in at Cascade Savings Bank at the corner of Colby and Hewitt avenues and pick up a free raffle ticket. Sunnyside Nursery has donated four hanging baskets for the drawing.

Gardening gloves and trowels are provided, along with coffee and refreshments.

Marysville artists guild offers scholarships

The nonprofit Greater Marysville Artists Guild is taking applications for grants-in-aid and scholarships in the visual arts. Graduating high school seniors and adult artists are invited to submit applications, which must include five photographs of their work.

High school seniors accepted into accredited art programs are eligible. Adult artists can compete for grants to pursue professional development.

Deadline for receipt of materials is May 11. Packages should be sent to Scholarship Committee, GMAG, P.O. Box 562, Marysville, WA, 98270.

Mill Creek club seeks volunteers, donations

Mill Creek Women’s Club plans a garage sale on Saturday to benefit YWCA Pathways for Women. The club needs volunteers and donations. For more information, call 425-742-2236.

Little Red School House sets fundraiser

The Little Red School House is seeking bowlers for its 17th annual Challenge for Children Bowlathon on Saturday at Brunswick Lanes in Lynnwood.

Bowlers, in teams of four or five, gather sponsors. The goal is to raise at least $200 per bowler. The money raised helps fund therapies and education for young children with, or at risk of, developmental delays and disabilities.
