LYNNWOOD — A cigarette is believed to have sparked a house fire Friday morning north of Lynnwood.
A neighbor pounded on the home’s doors and windows, waking up three men sleeping inside, said Leslie Hynes with Snohomish County Fire District 1.
Without the neighbor, “we likely would have had a tragic outcome since the house was not equipped with smoke alarms,” she said.
The fire was reported just after 1:30 a.m. along Jefferson Way near 148th Street SW.
No injuries were reported. Five people were displaced. Damage was estimated at $80,000. The area of origin appeared to be a flower pot on the back deck.
Crews also responded from Lynnwood and Everett.
