SEATTLE — A Seattle-area fundraiser headlined by Cindy McCain, wife of Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain, has been called off.
McCain campaign spokesman Rick Gorka says the Wednesday night fundraiser has been suspended because of the campaign’s decision to allow McCain to focus on the nation’s financial market crisis.
On Wednesday, John McCain said he would suspend his campaign and wanted to postpone Friday’s debate with Democratic opponent Sen. Barack Obama, but Obama said the debate should go ahead as scheduled.
The $1,000-a-plate fundraiser was to be at a private home in Hunts Point, west of Bellevue.
