PHILADELPHIA — A Philadelphia health official says two infant bodies found in a weed-filled lot appear to be medical specimens used for study.
Police still want to know how the bodies ended up in an alley where neighborhood children found them Saturday. They suspect they may have been dumped there.
Authorities say the male and female bodies had been preserved, possibly in formaldehyde, and had undergone autopsies.
City health department spokesman Jeff Moran says they may have been used for study by a hospital or university.
Police hope to speak with the occupants of a black truck reportedly seen dumping trash nearby. They do not suspect foul play in the infants’ deaths.
