Michelle Valentine paid the Everett City Council a visit Wednesday night.
The President of the League of Women Voters of Snohomish County wanted to ask the city leaders what, if anything, they planned to do about an apparent violation of state law that occured when the council approved a service contract with an organization that employs councilman Shannon Affholter.
Affholter works as a vice president for the Economic Alliance of Snohomish County. The council agreed Jan. 25 to pay the alliance $75,000 to provide marketing and economic alliance development services. While Affholter was absent and didn’t vote on the matter, he also didn’t publicly disclose his position with the organization. Read more about what happened here.
City attorney Jim Iles told her he expects the matter should come before council the first part of April.
