Rubatino Refuse Removal won’t be picking up garbage or recycling Thursday. Thursday customers will have service Friday and Friday customers can expect garbage to be picked up Saturday.
The following are scheduled closures for the holiday.
Schools: Closed.
Government: Federal, state and local offices will be closed.
Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest Christmas tree permits are for sale Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Ranger Station in the Seattle REI store and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the REI Alderwood store.
Post offices: Closed, although Express Mail service continues.
Commerce: Most businesses and banks will be closed.
Transportation: Everett Transit will be closed Thursday and on regular weekday schedule Friday. Administrative offices and customer service centers also will be closed Thursday and Friday.
Everett Para Transit’s scheduling office will be open for next-day services requests on the holiday only from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. No Community Transit or DART service.
Sound Transit will be on a holiday schedule. Rail traffic is being replaced by bus service because of a landslide over the railroad tracks near Edmonds (see story at left).
Roads: Highway 20 across the North Cascades is closed for the winter.
Ferries: Mukilteo-Clinton and Edmonds-Kingston routes are on holiday schedules.
The Herald: Home delivery problems can be reported between 7:30 and 11:30 a.m. at 425-339-3200.
