SEATTLE — The only Christmas Eve snow in Washington is expected in the mountains.
The National Weather Service says 3 to 5 inches will fall in the Cascades Wednesday before tapering off by late afternoon.
The Transportation Department says drivers Wednesday morning can expect snow in the passes. Snow and slush were reported on Snoqualmie and White passes, and compact snow and ice on Stevens Pass.
Forecasters say the rain will be ending Thursday. Cloudy skies are forecast for Christmas across Washington. The weather will transition to a colder, drier pattern over the weekend.
