JUNEAU, Alaska — A fishing boat captain was found dead when the Coast Guard responded to a call of a grounded vessel.
The Coast Guard says it received a call from another fishing boat that the 36-foot Allman Joy, from Port Angeles, was found about 65 miles southeast of Sitka with its captain unresponsive.
A Coast Guard helicopter was launched from Sitka and its crew pronounced the captain dead.
The victim’s name and a cause of death were not immediately released.
The body was transported to Alaska State Troopers in Sitka.
A salvage company has been hired to remove oil and fuel from the Allman Joy.
