SEATTLE — Coast Guard crews have rescued a man whose kite-powered kayak had overturned in Baker Bay near Ilwaco on the Washington coast.
The 55-year-old kayaker was in good condition Sunday night when helicopter crews hoisted him from the water.
The Coast Guard says the man was operating a kite-powered kayak when his kayak took a nose dive into a wave and he became tangled in the lines. He was initially able to cut himself free and call his wife.
His wife then called for help just before 6 p.m. A helicopter crew spotted the kayaker a couple of hours later.
