ALAMEDA, Calif. — The Coast Guard says one of its officers has been sentenced to six months confinement for sexual assault after a general court-martial at the Coast Guard base in Alameda, California.
Chief Warrant Officer Allyson Conroy said Tuesday that at the time of the offense, Petty Officer 2nd Class Harold Sanchez was stationed aboard the Coast Guard cutter Mellon in Seattle.
Conroy says that on the night of Aug. 21, 2013, Sanchez provided alcohol to a person who was under the legal drinking age, then later sexually assaulted his fellow crewmember.
Sanchez also had his pay reduced to the military’s lowest pay grade.
He will serve his sentence at the Navy brig in Miramar, California.
