WASHINGTON — Two soldiers from the Northwest were among four killed in a helicopter crash in Iraq.
The Defense Department says 29-year-old Chief Warrant Officer Benjamin H. Todd of Colville, Wash., and 31-year-old chief Warrant Officer Joshua M. Tillery of Beaverton, Ore., died from wounds suffered in Monday’s crash of a Kiowa Warrior in Kirkuk.
They were assigned to the 10th Mountain Division, based at Fort Drum, N.Y. Others killed in crash were Chief Warrant Officers 35-year-old Philip E. Windorski of Bovey, Minn., and 30-year-old Matthew G. Kelley of Cameron, Mo.
The Defense Department says the cause of the crash is under investigation, but it did not appear to be enemy action.
