Book-of-month meeting Tuesday

The Arlington Public Library’s book group will meet to discuss the following books in coming months:

  • March: "Mrs. Dalloway" by Virginia Woolf

  • April: "The House of the Spirits" by Isabel Allende.

    The March meeting is at 7 p.m. Tuesdayat the library, 135 N. Washington Ave. The group meets at 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of every month.

    Edmonds

    Summer camp signups Saturday

    The first 25 kids to sign up Saturdayfor the Edmonds Boys and Girls Club summer camp will receive a free T-shirt.

    Camp highlights include sports, adventure, theme camps and field trips. Space is limited. For more information, call 425-774-0630.

    Everett

    Council approves waste fee increase

    The City Council unanimously approved an increase in solid-waste fees Wednesday. The increase, which goes into effect April 1, will help fund the last step in the cleanup of the former city landfill near the Snohomish River.

    For single-family homes, the rate will go from $1.25 to $1.50 a month. Multifamily housing rates will rise from $1.06 to $1.30 a month for each unit. The rate for businesses will go from 24 cents to 30 cents a month for each full-time employee.

    The increase will expire in 2011 unless the council agrees to extend it.

    Lake Stevens

    Drainage district to review audit

    Drainage Improvement District No. 8 commissioners will discuss the results of a state audit for 2000-2002 at a board meeting at 7 tonight at the district office, 1911 Vernon Road.

    Other agenda items include a short plat application by Lee Hinds and an update on the lake management team.

    Williams gets

    pipeline go-ahead

    Puget Sound Energy and Williams Northwest Pipeline have accepted a certificate from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission authorizing Williams to build and operate the nine-mile Everett Delta natural gas pipeline.

    The pipeline will connect with the Northwest Pipeline system near Lake Stevens and continue west to connect with Puget Sound Energy’s lines near the Port of Everett.

    Construction of the $24 million project is scheduled to begin in June and begin service in November.

    Lynnwood

    Birthday lunch

    for seniors Friday

    Lynnwood Senior Center and six Lynnwood restaurants have teamed up to provide a birthday luncheon series for senior citizens.

    The next luncheon is noon Friday at the Lynnwood center, 5800 198th St. SW. Entertainment by the Rolling Crones, a senior choral group, will follow.

    Lunch is free for seniors during their birthday month and $2 for guests.

    A fund-raising dinner the Sultan High School Music Parents Association had scheduled at Nana Carmela’s Italian Ristorante at Monroe Golf Course on Sunday has been canceled because of a lack of ticket sales.
