Heights club quilting for cure
The Arlington Heights Improvement Club is asking for quilt squares to support "Quilt for the Cure," a fund-raising campaign for breast cancer research.
Squares can be delivered from 10-4 p.m. Saturday to the club, 12221 Arlington Heights Road. The squares should be pink or white, 10.5 inches, unfinished.

Reardon brings cabinet to town
Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon will convene the second meeting of his Citizens Cabinet, a 19-member group that will write an economic development plan for the county.
The meeting will be from 2:30-4:30 p.m. today at Crown Distributing, 17117 57th Ave. NE. The public is welcome and future meetings are planned at various sites throughout the county.
The cabinet members include Everett Community College President Charlie Earl, former County Councilman Cliff Bailey and Mike Martino, CEO of Sonus Pharmaceuticals of Bothell.

is ‘after-hours’
Harbor Square Athletic Club is hosting the Greater Edmonds Chamber of Commerce "after-hours" event from 5-7 p.m. tonightat 160 W. Dayton St.
Meet with other Chamber members, have snacks and drinks and take a guided tour of the club’s sports and fitness facilities. This get-together is free for chamber members and $5 for non-members.

Emergency training offered
The Everett Fire Department is offering a spring Community Emergency Training (CERT) class 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Thursday nights from April 15 to June 3.
The eight-week course will provide a variety of disaster planning, recovery and survival skills aimed at surviving and assisting our community in a disaster response and recovery.
Applications are available at the Everett Fire Administration office, 2811 Oakes Ave.
Participants must be at least 16 years old. Class size will be limited. Deadline for applications is April 9.

ESCA gets clean state audit
The Emergency Services Coordinating Agency in south Snohomish County complied with all state financial regulations and its own budget policies, according to a state auditor’s office review.
The agency provides joint organization of emergency management for Brier, Edmonds, Kenmore, Lake Forest Park, Lynnwood, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace and Woodway.
Auditors reviewed the agency’s records from 2000 through 2002.
Stanwood
Clean up day naming contest
The Parks and Pathways Committee that formed as a part of the Design Stanwood planning process is having a contest to name an annual cleanup day that will debut April 24.
The committee plans to invite the public to clean up the town on the last Saturday of every month.
Contestants can submit their suggested name for the event in writing with $1 in a sealed envelope addressed to the Design Stanwood contest. Make sure to put a return name and phone number or address so the committee can get in touch. Entries should be turned in at City Hall, 10220 270th St. NW.
The deadline for entries is March 31. The winner will get a prize basket of goods donated by local businesses.
