Volunteer: Three shots to help Earth
Celebrate Puget Sound Earth Month by volunteering to make the Sound a better place.
Groups and families are invited from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and April 18 and 25 to participate in work parties.
The Saturday event takes place at Willow Creek Hatchery in Edmonds, where volunteers can clear brush and grub out roots. Call 360-220-5544 for information.
On April 18, volunteers will gather at Union Slough in Marysville for the Earth Day Enhancement Extravaganza, where weeds will be removed and trees planted. Restoration site tours will also be available. Call 425-328-7670 or 425-252-6686.
Picnic Point Park between Mukilteo and Edmonds marks the spot on April 25 where volunteers can get rid of invasive ivy, making the area better for wildlife and native plants. Call 360-220-5544.
Tools are provided at the events. Children under 10 must have adult supervision. Advance registration is advised.
Volunteer: Killoqua marks Earth Day
Camp Killoqua’s annual Earth Day Event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 18 at the camp 20 miles northwest of Everett.

Explore the outdoors, make crafts and experience other hands-on workshops. The event is free and open to all families. Bring a picnic lunch.
Benefit: Affair aids Assistance League
The Assistance League of Everett’s Kitty Young Auxiliary will host An April Affair at noon April 25 in the Gretchen DeLap room, 5107 Evergreen Way, Everett.
The event features a silent auction, lunch at 1 p.m., a fashion show, a children’s fashion show and a performance from Jazzmine, a jazz choir from Arlington High School.
Cost is $25 and funds go to support Operation School Bell and other Assistance League programs. Reservations will be taken until April 17.

Benefit: Play golf for fire foundation
Registration is open for the Fire 1 Foundation Golf Tournament on June 18 at Harbour Pointe Golf Club in Mukilteo.
Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the nonprofit organization founded by employees of Snohomish County Fire District 1.
Fire 1 Foundation supports fire department activities and community service programs including the Good Neighbor Fund, which provides groceries for single parents, gas for stranded motorists, holiday food drives and scholarships for fire technology students.
Entry is $400 for a foursome or $100 for individuals. The price includes 18 holes of golf, cart, dinner and prize drawings.

Grants: Red Cross offers training aid
The Snohomish County Chapter of the American Red Cross is offering scholarships for health and safety training to active duty member of the Armed Forces, reservists, National Guard personnel and veterans, including family members.
First aid, adult CPR and AED, infant and child CPR, HIV/AIDS, and baby-sitter training are all available on a first come, first served basis.
Applicants must be assigned to a military unit in Snohomish County or be a resident of the county. Course must be completed by May 31.
All classes will be held at the Red Cross Chapter, 2530 Lombard Ave., Everett.
