Boogie: Dance raises money for Relay for Life
A country-and-western-style barn dance is planned to raise money for Relay for Life from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Lake Stevens Boys &Girls Club, 1609 E. Lakeshore Drive.
Chili and cornbread will be served. Cost is $5 or $15 per family. A competition will choose the best dressed Western outfits for men, women and couples.
Kick: Soccer game fundraiser planned
The Everett High School girls soccer team plans to host a fundraiser called “Kick for the Cure” at 7 p.m. Monday at Lincoln Field by the school, 1898 25th St., Everett.
The girls are accepting donations the night of the event and they are also going to ask for donations for every goal they score, along with trying to find some local sponsors. Money raised will go to the Providence General Foundation.
Haunt: Museum creates a spooky destination
The Edmonds Historical Museum will once again open its lower level Halloween night from 4-7 p.m. Thursday for a friendly historic haunting and to allow people to see the exhibits come to life like never before.
Features include the haunted jail cell, train tunnel and forest. New this year is a spooky Victorian parlor and the Witches Cafe — featuring plenty of ghoulish specials on the menu. Museum volunteers will hand out treats for the kids and offer coffee.
The museum requests a $1 donation at the door. The Edmonds Historical Museum is located at 118 Fifth Ave. N., in downtown Edmonds.
Spook: See headless horseman in Sultan
A headless horseman — bearing 40 pounds of candy — will appear at dusk on Halloween at the Sultan Cemetery. This will be the 25th year the horseman appears in Sultan. He is also expected show up at the GROW Washington Store and JD Slicks at 923 Main Street.
Dream: Flower show planned in Everett
The Washington State Federation of Garden Clubs, which includes eight area garden clubs, plans to present its 67th annual flower show “Winter Dreaming” from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 6 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Holiday Inn at 3105 Pine St., Everett.
Tickets are $8 purchased in advance and $10 at the door; children under age 12 may come in free with adults. Advance tickets are available at 3632 Broadway in Everett and 207728 Highway 99 in Lynnwood.
Fete: Camano Island author to be honored
The Camano Schoolhouse Foundation plans to honor Karen Prasse, Camano author and historian, as the winner of their first Heritage Preservation Award.
A benefit buffet breakfast is planned for the event from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Nov. 7 at the Historic Camano City Schoolhouse, 993 Orchid Road, off W. Camano Drive near Camano Island Inn. Former Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen is the scheduled speaker.

Talk: Author to appear at school foundation
Author Jim Lynch is scheduled to be the featured speaker at the Mukilteo Schools Foundation’s annual fundraising breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Nov. 11 at Kamiak High School, 10801 Harbour Pointe Blvd. Rick Rizzs, the radio voice of the Seattle Mariners, will serve as emcee. Tickets to the breakfast will go on sale in coming weeks and will cost $50 a seat, or $375 for a table of eight.
