Feed: Help stock new food bank at festival
Lowell Community Food Bank, which opened in April and serves Everett’s Lowell neighborhood, will hold an October Fest fundraiser, from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Lowell Park, 4605 S. Third Ave.
The food bank is sponsored by River of Life Community Church.
Bring a non-perishable food donation and enjoy craft and food booths, raffles, kids’ games, pie-baking contest, fresh-pressed apple cider, music and more.
This is also the 150th anniversary of the Lowell neighborhood.

Learn: Free septic system workshops
The Snohomish Conservation District and city of Lake Stevens host a free septic system workshop at 6 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Lake Stevens City Hall community room, 1812 Main St.
Teri King, a septic specialist from Shelton, will discuss septic systems and how to prevent costly repairs. Topics include types of systems, how to prevent overload, how to inspect them and how to find an as-build design online.

Serve: Snohomish seeks help on economic panel
The city of Snohomish seeks applicants to fill a vacancy on the Economic Development Committee.
Applications are due to the City Clerk by 4 p.m. Oct. 15 at City Hall, 116 Union Ave. The appointee will serve the balance of former member Robert Klem’s term, which expires April 1.

Party: Rockin’ Barn Burner aids cancer care
Sammi’s Rockin’ Barn Burner, a fundraiser for Seattle Children’s Hospital’s uncompensated care fund, is set for 7 to 11 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Maltby Community Club, 8711 206th St. SE, Snohomish.
The all-ages event is in memory of Samantha Crowell, a Monroe teen who died of cancer in 2008.
Tickets are $20 and include dinner, dessert, music and dancing, include a group line-dancing lesson. Beer, wine, and soda will be for sale. There also will be a silent auction.

Dine: Auction, dinner will help some bunnies
A silent auction and dinner at Mill Creek’s Rusty Pelican Cafe will be 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 19 to benefit Special Bunny, a Carnation-based nonprofit that cares for roughly 80 unwanted, and often high-needs house rabbits.
The restaurant is at 15704 Mill Creek Blvd. and will offer a Greek buffet. Wine is included in the $55 ticket price. There also will be a dessert buffet.
All proceeds directly benefit the animals.

Support: Event benefits The Family Shelter
The Interfaith Association hosts its annual gathering to support The Family Shelter, 6 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6215 196th St. SW in Lynnwood.
Tickets are $30 or $210 for a table of eight. The evening includes dinner, a raffle, a small silent auction, a time to give generously and a visit with a family from The Family Shelter.
Last year 46 families found safety and warmth at the shelter. More than half of the shelter’s residents were children.

Trap: Learn how to control feral cats
The Community Cat Coalition offers a free class in trap, neuter and return, a humane method of controlling the feral cat population. The next class is 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 20 at Frontier Village in Lake Stevens.
The class will show how to trap free-roaming cats, have them neutered for free, how to get free services for vaccinations, and discuss ways to either find homes or care for these cats.
