Listen: Band festival
A dozen high school marching bands from Everett to Portland will meet Oct. 5 for Kamiak High School show band’s Music in Motion competition.
Most Northwest bands compete in Oregon, said Kelly Feng, a band parent. “We recognized the need to ‘home grow’ our own local bands, many of whom will join us in our inaugural show.”
The event starts at noon at Mariner High School’s Goddard Stadium, 200 120th St. SW, Everett. Tickets are $15, $40 for a family of four, $10 seniors and $8 children. Gates open at 11:30 a.m. Proceeds benefit the Kamiak show band’s campaign to replace, fix or refurbish tubas and euphoniums.
Local bands competing include those from Cascade, Marysville, Stanwood and Sultan.
