Tutor: Volunteers needed in Edmonds
The Edmonds-Woodway High School Parent Student Organization is recruiting and coordinating volunteers from the community to help elementary school, middle school and high school students learn basic skills, complete homework and prepare for tests.
Academic support programs are held at various times, from as early as 7:30 a.m. to as late as 9 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays.

Preview: H’Arts auction aids Schack
Take a peek at the works of art that will be up for auction later this month by the Schack Art Center in Everett.
Live-auction items will be on display through Feb. 21 at the art center, 2921 Hoyt Ave., leading up to the 31st annual H’Arts benefit auction 5 to 9 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center at Comcast Arena, 2000 Hewitt Ave.
Tickets for the auction are $95 for members, $110 for non-members, before Feb. 14. All proceeds benefit the Schack Art Center. The event includes a reception, silent and live auctions, and dinner and wine.

Treat: Sip, taste for children’s charity
Sojen Cellars plans a Valentine’s Day “Sweet Taste of Wine and Chocolate” event to benefit the Mukilteo-based nonprofit Healing the Children.
The event is 5-8 p.m. Feb. 14 at the winery, 2818 Hewitt Ave., Everett. Enjoy jazz vocals, appetizers, a silent auction and raffle, as well as pairings of Sojen wines with Theo’s chocolates.
Tickets are $30 and available at www.htcorwwa.org. Healing the Children of Oregon and Western Washington brings access to donated medical care for impoverished children around the world.
Laugh: Comedy stands up to cancer
Stand Up Against Cancer will feature eight comedians, all volunteering their talent to help raise money for Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. There will also be live music by John Paul and the Apostles.
The show is set for 7 p.m. Feb. 28 at Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave. Tickets for the two-hour show are $8 and available at standupagainstcancer.brownpapertickets.com. A raffle also is planned. All proceeds will go to cancer research.

Cheer: Tips, Stealth team up for benefit
The Everett Silvertips and Washington Stealth team up to help local youth hockey and lacrosse programs in Western Washington with the first installment of the local youth sports benefit game, the Comcast Classic, at 7 p.m. Feb. 21.
The first event will feature a lacrosse match, mixing Silvertips and Stealth players and then dividing them into two teams that will play for local bragging rights at Comcast Arena, 2000 Hewitt Ave., Everett.
A rematch for next season — a benefit hockey game — is planned.
All proceeds from the game will benefit area youth hockey and lacrosse organizations to fund new equipment, playing time and scholarship programs.
Tickets are $10 per pair, available through local youth hockey and lacrosse clubs or by calling the Silvertips or Stealth offices, or at the door.
