Ride: Community event in Mukilteo

The second annual Mukilteo Classic community bicycle ride is planned for June 26.

Riders can register in person between 6:45 and 9:30 a.m. at Mukilteo City Hall, 11930 Cyrus Way. The cost is $25 per person, $40 for a family, $15 for the 8-mile ride. Paid participants will get T-shirts.

The 8-mile route opens at 8:30 a.m. The longer rides start at 7 a.m.

These three loop routes start and end at City Hall: The 8-mile, family-friendly ride goes around the Harbour Pointe area of Mukilteo.

The 28-mile scenic coastline loop heads to north Everett along the Interurban Trail and back along Mukilteo Boulevard and the Speedway.

The 40-mile country and city loop goes east to Snohomish, following along the Snohomish River, and returns through north Everett and along the Interurban Trail.

The event is sponsored by the city and Quality Fitness studio.

Volunteer: Collect Stevens Pass trash

Volunteers are needed to help remove trash from the mountain slopes of the Steven’s Pass ski area.

The work party is from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 12.

About 180 participants are expected, including volunteers from Seattle Parks and Recreation, First Nations Snowboard Team, Washington State University 4-H, Stevens Pass Ski Area, National Forest Foundation and U.S. Forest Service.

Honor: Spirit Awards nominations

United Way is looking for nominations for its annual Spirit of Snohomish County Awards.

The awards recognize those children, adults and organizations working for the common good and demonstrating commitment to the community.

Submissions also are accepted for the Reeves/Sievers’ Founders Award for a lifetime of service.

Winners will be honored at the Spirit of Snohomish County Breakfast set for Sept. 9 at the Tulalip Resort Casino.

Nomination forms can be found at uwsc.org/spiritnominate.php. People can submit online or download a form and mail, fax or email it by June 24.

Tour: Historic trolley open house

Visitors to Lynnwood’s Heritage Park can tour the historic Interurban Car 55 during open house Saturdays this summer.

The free open houses are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 2, August 6 and Sept. 3 at 19921 Poplar Way, Lynnwood. Tour guides will provide historical details and recall stories of the Interurban Railway.

Interurban Car 55 is one of six electric cars that made daily runs between Seattle and Everett from 1910 to 1939. The city of Lynnwood has restored the old car and relocated it to Heritage Park.
