Apply: Horticulture scholarship offered
The Alderwood Garden Club is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a student studying a horticulture-related field.

Students must be currently enrolled in a horticulture-related certificate or degree program in Washington state, live within the Edmonds School District or be recommended by a member of the Alderwood Garden Club.

Applications are available at the Edmonds Community College Horticulture Department and at counseling offices in Edmonds high schools.

Applications must be postmarked by April 8.

Learn: Disability workshop held
Hands on Diversity is set to host the “Disability Awareness Training” workshop from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on April 19 at the Everett Performing Arts Center.

The workshop will include information on disability services, support and other local resources, accommodations and personal experiences from people with disabilities and their families.

The center is at 2710 Wetmore Ave., Everett. The workshop is free and open to everyone.

Volunteer: Planting help needed
The Adopt-A-Stream Foundation and Stream Restoration students are seeking volunteers to plant native trees and shrubs at a site on the banks of the Sammamish River from 12:30 to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

An estimated 400 trees and shrubs, 1,500 live stakes of willow and red osier dogwood cuttings will be planted on site.

The site is across the river from Bothell Landing Park at 9919 NE 180th St., Bothell.

Honor: Awards banquet to come
Zonta Club of Everett plans to hold its annual awards banquet at 5:30 p.m. April 21 at the Everett Golf and Country Club.

The event’s topic will be women’s well-being through yoga and dance.

The club will distribute the Virginia Gullikson and Young Women in Public Affairs Awards.

The Virginia Gullikson Award, named after a Zonta member, honors someone who has excelled in service.

The Young Women in Public Affairs Award is given to a young woman who has shown voluntarism , leadership, international awareness and dedication to advancing the status of women.

The country club is at 1500 52nd St. SE, Everett.

The event costs $28 per person. Guest must reserve seats by April 15.

Help: Future park needs clean-up
Volunteers are needed for a work party to clean a land parcel from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

The Everett Parks and Recreation Department will convert the parcel into a park.

Help to clean the area and remove invasive blackberry plants. Tools, equipment and refreshments will be provided.

The site is at 528 Madison St., Everett.
