Give: Help out with YMCA programs

YMCA of Snohomish County has branches in Everett, Marysville, Mill Creek, Monroe and Mukilteo, and includes the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

The nonprofit organization needs financial support to continue its programs.

Party: Fire station hosts holiday event

Firefighters at Snohomish County Fire District 1 invite neighborhood families to attend the 18th annual holiday party at Lake Serene Fire Station 23 on Saturday..

The event is scheduld to begin at 10 a.m. at the fire station at 4323 Serene Way in Lynnwood.

Santa Claus will make a special appearance with a little help from the firefighters. At the door, firefighters will be collecting canned goods and other nonperishable food items to donate to local food banks and families in need.

Space is limited. To attend, call 425-551-1243 by Friday. Before the event, parents can deliver a wrapped gift valued at $10 or less, and labeled with the first and last name of each of their children attending the party. If necessary, parents can turn in gifts as they arrive at the party.

Breakfast: Eat at Edmonds center

The Edmonds Senior Center, 220 Railroad Ave., plans a breakfast Friday.

The monthly event scheduled from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. features pancakes, strawberry compote, eggs and ham, biscuits and sausage gravy, orange juice and coffee or tea. The cost is $5.

Help: Domestic violence victims

Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County seeks new unwrapped gifts and gift cards for domestic violence victims and their children.

For gift ideas, see dvs-snoco.org and look for the holiday wish list.

Gifts can be dropped off at the New and Again Thrift Shoppe at 3116 Rucker in Everett or at the Mukilteo Chamber of Commerce office located at 4902 76th St. SW, Mukilteo. The store is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The office hours are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Donate: Medical group collects toys

Western Washington Medical Group’s Family Medicine plans to collect toys for the United States Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots 2011 campaign at the Silver Lake Medical Center in Everett through Dec. 14.

New unwrapped toys can be dropped off at Family Medicine on the third floor of the center at 12728 19th Ave. SE, Suite 300, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The center is not open on weekends.

Attend: Free kids holiday party

A free holiday puppet show is scheduled to be part of a party at Zion Lutheran Church on Saturday in Everett. The program is aimed for children of all ages and culminates with a finger puppet workshop at the church, 4634 S. Alger Ave.

The event is set from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Santa’s arrival is slated for noon.

The party is sponsored by Zion Lutheran Church and the View Ridge, Madison and South Forest Park Neighborhood Associations.
