Mentor-tutors needed to help at Mariner High

The South Everett Neighborhood Center and Mariner High School’s English Language Learning program are looking for volunteers to tutor at-risk students for whom English is a second language.

Volunteers will help by tutoring the students after school, with the hope of increasing graduation rates among the students.

Volunteers are asked to make a three-month commitment to work from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays or Thursdays through the end of the school year.

Program coordinators said the need for volunteers is great. For more information or to volunteer, contact Shannon Newsum at 425-355-6055 or snewsum@lcsnw.org.

Volunteers are stationed at the information office at the Everett Events Center and the arena guest services kiosk.

Day, evening and weekend hours are available. Knowledge of Everett and the surrounding area is helpful but not required. Call 425-322-2658.
