Food bank seeks volunteers for holidays

The Volunteers of America Snohomish County Food Distribution Center seeks volunteers and sponsors for its Holiday Basket Bureau program.

Volunteers are needed to help with data entry, mailing and phone calls Monday through Friday. Sponsors are needed to help provide food for families, children, seniors and people with disabilities.

The food bank also accepts donations from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at 1230 Broadway, Everett.

Apply for community grants by Friday

Applications for Stanwood-Camano Area Foundation grants are due Friday. The Foundation awards community grants to nonprofit organizations that benefit residents of Stanwood and Camano Island.

Sno-Isle Libraries seeks board member

Applications for a board position on the Sno-Isle Libraries Board of Trustees are due Friday. The upcoming vacancy is for a Snohomish County position and preference will be given to applicants from central Snohomish County.

The position is expected to begin immediately and to fill the remaining three years of an unexpired seven-year term.

Help paint community center Saturday

Recovery for Life Training Center seeks volunteers to help paint its community center starting at 9 a.m. Saturday at 2532 Virginia Ave., Everett.

The center recently was chosen as a Painting a Better Tomorrow charity, a program offered by the Master Builders Care Foundation where volunteers take a day to paint and repair homeless shelters in King and Snohomish Counties.

Professional painters are set to be on hand to help. Organizers welcome paint donations.

Financial coaching offered for women

The Women’s Wellness Center, a program of Positive Women’s Network in Everett offers financial coaching for women by appointment at 2817 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.

The cost is $40 for members; $60 for nonmembers.

The sessions are designed to offer solutions for budgeting, retirement planning and other needs unique to each person’s financial situation.

Phoebe deReynier, a certified public school teacher and district administrator with 25 years experience as a chief financial officer for nonprofit organizations and educational institutions, plans to provide the coaching services.

Help people and dogs, cats at grocery event

The Arlington Food Pavilion and Everett Cost Cutter play host to a Helpful Harvest and Helping Paws care package event.

During the event, each store plans to sell a packaged bag of nonperishable food, including spaghetti, peanut butter and macaroni and cheese to be donated to the Arlington Food Bank and Salt of the Earth Food Bank. For $10 customers can add the cost of a care package at checkout. Care packages also will be available for cats and dogs.
