Snohomish Top Foods’ luau to aid food bank
Top Foods is holding a Hawaiian Days Luau from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 19 to benefit the Snohomish Community Food Bank.
The luau features barbecue, fresh pineapple, Tim’s Maui Chips and Pepsi beverages. The donation of $2 per person will go to the Snohomish Community Food Bank. Donations of nonperishable food will be accepted during the luau. A hula-hoop contest will start at 1 p.m. at the store, 1301 Ave. D.
The Snohomish Community Food Bank is supported solely through donations and community volunteers who solicit, manage and distribute its reserves. For information about the food bank, call 360-568-7993.
EvCC to host blood drive over two days
Everett Community College and the Puget Sound Blood Center are hosting a blood drive from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at EvCC’s Jackson Center.
In Western Washington, 800 donations of blood are needed daily.

YMCA promotes Healthy Kids Day
Snohomish County kids and families are urged to “put play in your day” at YMCA Healthy Kids Day.
The YMCA of Snohomish County will host its 17th annual Healthy Kids Day event in support of its efforts to deliver on the pledge 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
A special day of family learning and fun, this annual event emphasizes the fact that attaining and maintaining good health can be and should be enjoyable.
YMCA Healthy Kids Day is a program that celebrates how fun it is to get active, and introduces kids to YMCA programs and activities just for them. All events are free and open to the public.
Community health care volunteers will provide vision, hearing, dental, nutrition and safety resources. Fun hands-on crafts that promote a healthy lifestyle, family involvement and learning will be offered as well as roving magicians and clowns to delight attendees.
Individual Healthy Kids Day events at Snohomish County YMCAs may differ from facility to facility.
Parks scholarship deadline is April 30
Applications are now being accepted by the Lynnwood Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department for the Randy Terlicker Memorial Aquatics and Life Safety Scholarship.
Individuals, students and professionals who are interested in obtaining a scholarship to further their training and education in aquatics, life safety or other related fields are encouraged to apply.
Scholarships will be determined by the following selection criteria: a commitment to high standards of excellence, a desire to improve oneself and the community, letters of recommendation and completion of a written application.
Applications will be reviewed by a selection panel, and recipients will be announced in June. Interested high school and college students and professionals are encouraged to make application before the April 30 deadline.
