Red Cross will mark its 91 years in county
The Snohomish County Chapter of the American Red Cross celebrates its anniversary Friday by doing what it’s done for the past 91 years: helping Snohomish County residents prepare for, prevent and respond to emergencies.
With an annual budget of $1.1 million, the chapter has 10 employees and more than 250 trained volunteers. Its disaster action teams are dispatched to a house fire or other emergency an average of about every three or four days, said Chuck Morrison, the chapter’s executive director. In addition, nearly 8,000 people took Red Cross health and safety classes last year.
The long-standing community resource was recognized earlier this year as one of the top-performing chapters among 756 Red Cross chapters nationwide. The chapter depends on financial support from the community to offer its free relief services.
Donations can be mailed to the Red Cross at 2530 Lombard Ave., Everett, WA 98201, or made online at www. snohomishcounty.redcross.org.
