The Lynnwood Fire Department has started Fire Corps, a volunteer organization supporting the department through community outreach and education events.
Fire Corps volunteers will assist the department with promoting fire safety and installing smoke detectors.

Group sets benefit for county’s foster kids
“That’s Amore – Give Your Heart to a Child,” an evening of music and dancing to benefit Snohomish County foster children, will begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Everett Events Center, 2000 Hewitt Ave.
The event, by Kidsdream of Snohomish County, will include jazz, entertainment, a live auction and dancing. Tickets are $65 or $600 for a table of 10.

Lake Stevens seniors seek estate sale donations
The Lake Stevens Senior Center is collecting items for its first estate sale, which will be in late April.
Items needed include furniture, baby items, clothing, jewelry, kitchen items, garage items, electronics and crafts. Donations are tax deductible.
The center also needs volunteers to help with the sale.

Mountlake Terrace’s civil service panel has an opening
Mountlake Terrace has an opening on its volunteer Civil Service Commission.
The panel reviews and makes recommendations on police department administrative matters such as entry and lateral hiring rules and promotional exams.
The three-member board meets on an as-needed basis.
