Boy Scouts in southern Snohomish County are organizing a two-week canned food drive for several local food banks.
The “Together, We ‘Can’ Drive Out Hunger” campaign runs March 23 through April 6.
Scouts will have collection bins at participating grocery stores and will be on site to personally collect donations March 25 and 26 and April 1 and 2.
The locations are: Albertson’s Food and Drug in Bothell, Lynnwood, Mill Creek and Mountlake Terrace; Fred Meyer in Bothell and Lynnwood; Petosa’s Family Grocery in Edmonds; QFC Food Center in Canyon Park, Edmonds, Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace; Roger’s Market Place in Mountlake Terrace; Safeway Food and Drug in Edmonds and Lynnwood; and Top Food in Lynnwood.
Eradicate park’s ivy Saturday
International Earth Day at Meadowdale County Park will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Help Snohomish County Parks and Recreation remove invasive English ivy from the hillsides at the park, 6026 156th St. SW, Edmonds.

Girl Scout cookies help sailors
Gift of Caring: Operation Cookie Drop runs through Sunday.
Customers can purchase boxes at Girl Scout site sales throughout northwest Washington and drop them into handcrafted collection boxes. The scouts will distribute them to Navy personnel deployed on the USS Stennis, submarine crews based at Bangor and personnel in military hospitals locally and worldwide.
Learn to give respite help to patients
Volunteers are wanted to help patients with life-threatening illnesses and support their families by providing respite, running errands, recording Life Reviews, doing light housework or providing transportation.
An information meeting will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at Providence Hospice &Home Care of Snohomish County. Forty hours of classes will begin Monday nights beginning April 3. There also will be two Saturdays.
