Group collects gifts for soldiers at luncheon

The Mill Creek Red Hat Society hosts a luncheon at 12:45 p.m. todayat Alfy’s Pizza, 9620 19th Ave. SE, Everett. Volunteers from the Mill Creek Senior Center plan to bring gift items to be given to members of the Marine Corps, who plan to pick them up at 1 p.m.

Variety of gifts by local artists in Mukilteo

The Mukilteo Arts Guild and the city of Mukilteo present a Holiday Art Mart from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave., Mukilteo.

The market features hand-made gifts including accessories, fused glass, quilts, pottery, jewelry, children’s books and clothing, metal sculptures, fountains, candles and home decor items.

Proceeds from vendor space fees go to the Mukilteo School District High School Senior Scholarship Fund.

Gala to benefit children and families

The Assistance League of Everett hosts a Gala Dinner and Auction from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Comcast Arena at Everett, Edward D. Hansen Conference Center, 2000 Hewitt Ave., Everett.

The event features John Curley, departing host of KING 5 TV’s “Evening Magazine,” as celebrity auctioneer and includes a silent auction, dinner and live auction. The live auction starts at 7 p.m. The cost is $75 per ticket. Reservations are required.

Help African women create businesses

Fabric Of Life, a nonprofit foundation that provides skills and micro-financing to help poor women in African countries create businesses, invites the public to its Grand Opening celebration from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdayat its retail boutique, 523 Main Street, Edmonds.

The event features African musicians, drummers and dancers a book signing with children’s author Kunle Oguneye. The foundation’s boutique offers fabric items, jewelry and other products created by graduates of the Hèrè Jè Training Center in Mali, West Africa.

Honor veterans at dinner Monday

The Everett Elks Lodge No. 479 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2100 plan a Veterans Dinner at 5:30 p.m. Mondayat the VFW Hall, 2711 Oakes Ave., Everett.

The menu includes Swiss steak, mashed potatoes, vegetable, salad and dessert. Dinner is free for veterans; $8 for others. Reservations are due by Friday.

Learn about video game violence Tuesday

Compass Health in Everett offers a free training on Video Game Violence from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdayat 4526 Federal Ave., Bldg. 2, Everett. The training is open to the public and provides credit for two hours of state approved foster parent training.
