EVERETT — Community Transit has a new look.
Three former alternates are now on the Community Transit board and it has one new member, Marysville Mayor Dennis Kendall.
The Snohomish County Council decided to keep members Gary Nelson and Dave Gossett as its two representatives on the nine-member board.
Cities served by Community Transit each pick an individual on their city councils to serve on the board. It was those folks who on Thursday decided who would fill out the final seven seats on the board.
Council Member Cathy Reese of Mukilteo and Mayor Lynn Walty of Lake Stevens retained their seats. Former alternates Richard Marin of Edmonds, Jack Start of Mill Creek and Carlton Gipson of Brier all moved from alternate to taking a seat on the board.
The new board will meet for the first time Feb. 5.
Kendall was the lone newcomer.
"I have no agenda at this point," said Kendall, the new mayor of Marysville. "I think my goal right now is to represent north county in the operations of Community Transit."
Reese said she looks forward to working with a new board. She served as vice-chairwoman of the last board, and, if tradition holds, will become chairwoman now that former Arlington Mayor Bob Kraski is no longer on the board after losing his re-election bid.
"It’s always good to have new people," Reese said. "They have a new way of looking at things."
